Good morning and merry Christmas, New York Giants fans!
Today is a particularly merry Christmas for one Giant in particular, as the team has signed veteran DB Logan Ryan to a three year, $31 million ($20 million guaranteed) extension.
The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
A very Merry Christmas for star DB @RealLoganRyan and the #Giants as they agree to a 3-year deal for $31M with $20M guaranteed, source said. Ryan bet on himself taking a 1-year deal with the @Giants and it pays off big time.

Ryan himself quickly confirmed the signing, tweeting,
A Christmas Morning we’ll never forget

The @giants and I just agreed to a new 3 year deal. IM HERE TO STAY ‼️
Merry Christmas! #TheMostVersatile #TogetherBlue
The Giants originally signed Ryan to a one-year deal back on August 31st, after the injury to Xavier McKinney left their secondary short handed. Fans, however, had been clamoring for the team to sign the veteran defensive back for much longer. Ryan’s name was frequently brought up throughout the various phases of free agency as the Giants sought to rebuild a leaky secondary.
Ryan has become an integral part of the Giants’ secondary since joining the team. His leadership, football IQ, versatility, and ability have allowed the the Giants’ defense to execute Patrick Graham’s scheme in ways they otherwise wouldn’t — not to mention weather injury and inconsistent play elsewhere in the secondary.
Looking back at Ryan’s play over the course of the 2020 season, perhaps we should count it a Christmas miracle that another team didn’t snap him up before the Giants’ hands were forced by injury.
