We already knew that Daniel Jones (hamstring) would play on Sunday for the New York Giants against the Arizona Cardinals. Now, we also know that linebacker Blake Martinez, the team’s defensive quarterback, will also play. Martinez had been questionable with a back injury.
Cornerback Darnay Holmes, the Giants’ primary slot cornerback, will not play due to a knee injury. That could open the door for second-round pick Xavier McKinney, who has played only 11 defensive snaps since returning from a fractured foot, to see considerable playing time. The Giants elevated undrafted free agent rookie cornerback Jarren Williams from their practice squad due to Holmes’ injury. Williams will make his NFL debut.
Arizona will be without placekicker Zane Gonzales, who will miss the game with a back injury. Veteran Mike Nugent will take his place.
