Before the New York Giants headed out to practice on Friday, it appeared little had changed in terms of the status of quarterback Daniel Jones for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Head coach Joe Judge remained unwilling to commit to Jones playing, or not playing, though he did say he was “fairly optimistic.”
After practice, the Giants listed Jones as “questionable” on their official injury report. That means it’s 50-50 as to whether or not he will play.
Judge did say the Giants “ramped him up a little bit” during Thursday’s practice and that “there was some progress made.”
Judge indicated he had conversations with Jones after Thursday’s practice and again Friday morning, but that he wanted to see how the quarterback handled Friday’s practice before making any determination.
“In a perfect world I’d like to make the decision before game day,” Judge said. “I’d like to know tonight at the latest for myself.”
Linebacker Blake Martinez (back) is the other injury of concern. He is also listed as qustionable.
“Today is going to be a tell-tale sign for both of those guys,” Judge said. “I’m optimistic on both those guys.
“We’re planning, preparing with plans for both having both those guys as well as not having both those guys.”
