Needing to bring three players off the Reserve/COVID-19 list, you knew that the New York Giants were going to have to make a series of roster moves this week. The Giants thus announced several moves Tuesday afternoon, most notably sending outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell to injured reserve.

Here is the full list of roster moves by the Giants:

Activated off COVID-19 list

OT Matt Peart
WR Dante Pettis
TE Kaden Smith

Placed on IR

OLB Kyler Fackrell

Terminated from Practice Squad

WR Derrick Dillon
TE Nate Wieting

Waived

DB Montre Hartage
P Ryan Santoso

Fackrell played only 23 snaps on Sunday before leaving the game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a calf injury. His loss means none of the four edge players the Giants began the season with are on the roster. Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximines were previously lost for the season to injuries, and Markus Golden was traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

Fackrell, who has 3 sacks and 31 tackles this season, will have to miss at least the next three games.

The Giants now have rookies Cam Brown and Carter Coughlin, along with a pair of veterans signed during the season in Jabaal Sheard and Trent Harris. Rookie Niko Lalos, who made his NFL debut on Sunday, returned to the practice squad on Monday. It won’t be a surprise to see him elevated again or signed outright to the 53-man roster.

The waiving of Dillon and Weiting from the practice squad is likely to make room for one or both of Hartage and Santoso. The Giants may also have to find roster space for Alex Tanney on either the 53-man roster or practice squad before Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Peart, Pettis and Smith all missed Sunday’s game against the Bengals after testing positive for COVID-19.
