Giants’ roster move: Safety Adrian Colbert placed on IR

Giants take another hit in depleted secondary

Safety Adrian Colbert was placed on injured reserve by the New York Giants on Tuesday evening. Colbert has missed the last three games with a shoulder injury, and has missed five of eight games this season with injuries.

Colbert, in his fourth NFL season, has played in three games with two starts for the Giants. Lewis will be eligible to return after three games. He previously played for the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins.

The Giants already have safety Xavier McKinney and cornerback Ryan Lewis on IR.

The Giants elevated safety Montre Hartage from the practice squad on Monday to provide depth. Hartage has been returned to the practice squad, but it seems the likely move by the Giants would be to add Hartage to the 53-man roster in Colbert’s place.

Logan Ryan, Jabrill Peppers and Julian Love have handled most of the snaps at safety in Colbert’s absence.
