The Cincinnati Bengals will turn to Brandon Allen rather than Ryan Finley on Sunday against the New York Giants, per NFL.com.
Finley, a second-year player drafted by the Bengals in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, took over against the Washington Football Team last week when Joe Burrow was lost for the season with a torn ACL and MCL.
Finley went 3-of-10 for 30 yards with an interception during a 20-9 loss to Washington. Cincinnati did not score in the second half with Finley at quarterback.
Allen, 28, was a sixth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. He has been with the Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos and now the Bengals.
Allen’s only NFL game action came last season, when he started three games for the Broncos. Denver went 1-2 in those games. Allen completed 39-of-84 passes (46.4 percent) for 515 yards with 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, a passer rating of 68.3 and a QBR of 35.4.
Allen was just added to the Bengals’ 53-man roster from their practice squad on Monday.
