The New York Giants are elevating a trio of players from their practice squad for Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are running back Alfred Morris, defensive back Montre Hartage and offensive lineman Chad Slade.

In eight NFL seasons, the 31-year-old Morris has gained 5,935 yards rushing and averaged 4.3 yards per carry. The Giants are his fifth NFL team. Morris signed with the Giants’ practice squad at the end of September. He offers them depth with Devonta Freeman out with an ankle injury.

Hartage was cut by the Giants in training camp after he suffered an injury. He was re-signed to the practice squad only last week. With cornerback Ryan Lewis (hamstring) having been added to the team’s injury report over the weekend, elevating Hartage makes sense. Hartage played in four games for the Miami Dolphins last season.

Slade, a veteran offensive lineman, will take the place of will Hernandez, who is on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. As this is an elevation due to COVID-19, it does not count toward Slade’s limit of two elevations without being exposed to waivers
