Good morning, New York Giants fans!
DeAndre Baker will join the Chiefs
One day after armed robbery charges were dropped against him, it looks like former Giant DeAndre Baker has found a new home. Baker is expected to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he will begin on their practice squad.
The Giants cut ties with the 2019 first-round pick in early September, while court proceedings were still ongoing.
Coach Joe Judge said earlier this week that the Giants had no interest in reuniting with the cornerback.
“I wish him the best of luck in the future,” Judge said. “We’ve made the decision that we think is best for the program, and that’s really all I have to say about that.”
The Giants traded up from No. 37 to No. 30, surrendering two other 2020 draft picks as well, to select Baker. He had a difficult rookie season during which his work ethic was questioned.
Charges against Baker where dropped when the lawyer for three of Baker’s accusers was charged with extortion.
