The New York Giants have already traded veteran edge defender Markus Golden to the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth-round pick. At 1-6 the Giants have to be considered potential sellers as the Nov. 3 NFL trade deadline approaches.
Coach Joe Judge indicated last week that he doesn’t expect “a string of moves” to jettison veteran players.
“I don’t know that there needs to be an assumption that there is going to be a string of moves anyway,” he said. “Just because there is a trade deadline coming up doesn’t mean there is going to be a string of moves or something we’re going to have to look to go ahead and do and flip a lot of things.”
The Golden trade, though, indicates that the 1-6 Giants recognize where they are and that there is value in adding future draft assets. We’ll see if they move veterans like Evan Engram, Kevin Zeitler, Golden Tate and others in the coming days.
