The New York Giants are “open for business” as the NFL trade deadline looms in less than two weeks, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. The names at the forefront of trade discussions are apparently veterans Golden Tate and Kevin Zeitler.
Breer reported that both of those players have been discussed “pretty consistently” in talks with other NFL teams.
Our report earlier this week indicated that Tate, a 32-year-old wide receiver would be difficult to trade. Former NFL GM Jeff Diamond went so far as to opine that Tate, because of age, production and contract “isn’t tradeable.” Breer says Tate would be “difficult to move for anything significant.”
Zeitler, the veteran starting right guard “might fetch a return based on, again, the crying need for experienced linemen across the league.”
The giants are high on fifth-round pick Shane Lemieux, and moving Zeitler would open a spot on the offensive line for Lemieux.
