Which Philadelphia Eagles player would you most like for the New York Giants?

There are several viable options here

It was difficult this week to choose a player from the Philadelphia Eagles that I would really like to plug into the New York Giants’ lineup. No, that was not because we are talking about the Eagles here. Feelings about the Eagles and their fan base are irrelevant.

The difficulty was there, in my view, no clear choice. There are some good players who would help the Giants, but none that made me think “it’s gotta be THAT guy!”

Right tackle Lane Johnson is a really good player, a one-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler. He is 30, though, and with the Giants needing to be more concerned about the future than the present — in my view, at least — I really want to see where this goes with rookie tackles Andrew Thomas and Matt Peart. Despite Thomas’s struggles, I remain optimistic about both players.

Center Jason Kelce is a three-time All-Pro. He is a terrific player. He would be an upgrade from Nick Gates, obviously, and would help stabilize the Giants’ offensive line. Again, though, Kelce is 32 and could decline while the Giants are trying to rise.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson ... ah, sorry, just kidding!

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is a terrific player. If the Giants didn’t already have Dexter Lawrence, Dalvin Tomlinson and Leonard Williams I would jump at the chance to add Cox. But they do, so I won’t.

Tight end Zach Ertz is another outstanding player. As long as the Giants have Evan Engram, though, I’m looking elsewhere. Even if I believe the Giants are not maximizing Engram’s play-making ability.

The choice for me ends up being cornerback Darius Slay. Ryan Lewis has done really good work the past couple of weeks for the Giants, but he is still a guy who has bounced to eight different teams in four seasons for a reason. Slay, 29, is. a 2017 All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl cornerback. I’m not thrilled by his age, but he would boost the Giants’ secondary.
