Joe Judge’s staff adds another former head coach

The New York Giants coaching staff continues to come together for new head coach Joe Judge.

Matt Zenitz of AL.com is reporting that former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is expected to join the Giants’ coaching staff.

The Giants interviewed Kitchens for their offensive coordinator position back on Jan. 9, before ultimately hiring Jason Garrett. Judge and Kitchens previously worked together at Mississippi State, where Judge was a graduate assistant and Kitchens was the tight ends and running backs coach.

Tuesday also saw reports that Jerome Henderson, Brett Bielema, and Jody Wright would be added to the coaching staff. While Henderson will be the Giants’ defensive backs coach, the roles of Wright, Bielema, and Kitchens have yet to be defined. Bielema will likely be on the defensive side of the ball — he was considered for the Giants’ defensive coordinator job and coached the New England Patriots’ defensive line this past year.

Wright, like Kitchens, has previously been a running backs and tight ends coach.
