Lunda Wells, a New York Giants assistant coach since 2012, is moving on join the staff of the Dallas Cowboys, per a report from Adam Schefter.
Wells will become the tight end coach for the Cowboys, filling the same role he had for the Giants the past two seasons under then-head coach Pat Shurmur. Wells joined the Giants’ coaching staff as an offensive assistant in 2012, and was assistant offensive line coach from 2013-2017. That means he served under Tom Coughlin, Ben McAdoo and Shurmur.
New head coach Joe Judge has reportedly kept two members of Shurmur’s staff, special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey and wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert. Mike Shula, offensive coordinator for Shurmur, has reportedly interviewed for that role with the Giants. Other reported hirings include Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator, Freddie Roach as defensive line coach and Jerry Schlupinski as quarterbacks coach.
The biggest remaining coaching staff decision is the offensive coordinator post.
