On the heels of reports that Jerry Schuplinski will become New York Giants quarterbacks coach, another report has broken that the Giants will hire Freddie Roach to coach the defensive line.

Roach was defensive line coach at Ole Miss for the past three seasons. He is familar to head coach Joe Judge because he was strength and conditioning coach at Alabama from 2008-2010. Judge was an assistant at Alabama from 2009-2011.

Roach was defensive line/strength coach at East Mississippi CC in 2011, defensive line coach at Murray State in 2012, linebackers/defensive ends coach at South Alabama in 2013-14 and director of player development at Alabama in 2015-16 before spending the last three seasons at Ole Miss.

Roach was a linebacker for Alabama from 2002-2005.

This brings to five the number of hirings for Judge’s staff that have been reported, In addition to Roach, reports have Patrick Graham (defensive coordinator), Thomas McGaughey (special teams coordinator), Tyke Tolbert (wide receivers) and Schuplinski (quarterbacks) joining the staff.
