You knew someone surprising was likely to sit down as an inactive player Sunday for the New York Giants against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That someone turns out to be defensive back Julian Love, the team’s fourth round pick.

Love, who worked both in the slot and at free safety during the preseason, did not play a single defensive snap during the Giants first two games, and only nine special teams snaps.

Here is the full list of inactives:

DB Julian Love
WR Cody Latimer (concussion)
TE Kaden Smith
TE Garrett Dickerson
OL Chad Slade
OT Eric Smith
QB Alex Tanney

With five tight ends on the roster it figured that a couple of them would be inactive. You have to wonder how long the Giants will carry that many tight ends before making a roster move.

Also, Tanney being inactive of course means that Eli Manning will serve as the No. 2 quarterback.
