NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Well then: nothing to see here. It was business as usual in New York this week.

I’ll cut the crap. The New York Giants are potentially at the start of a new era Sunday when rookie QB Daniel Jones makes his first start. Benched is veteran Eli Manning.

There is some silver lining. The Giants and Jones will get wide receiver Sterling Shepard back this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shepard missed the Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills with a concussion.

The receiving corps could also get a boost from the NFL debut of fifth-round pick Darius Slayton, who has been battling a hamstring issue for two months now.

Neither Shepard nor Slayton were on the Giants’ final injury report on Friday. Wide receiver Cody Latimer (concussion) is out and wide receiver Bennie Fowler, who leads the team’s wide receivers thus far with 10 receptions, is questionable with a hamstring.

On the flip side, not much appears to be changing for the Bucs. Jameis Winston looks to continue another average season while third-year wide receiver Chris Godwin is off to a hot start with 174 yards and two touchdowns in two games.

Meanwhile, Mike Evans has 19 receptions for 337 yards (112.3 per game) and two TDs in three career games against Big Blue. He’s gunning for his third straight game against New York with TD catch. Since 2014, he’s one of three receivers with 6,000+ receiving yards (6,192) and 40+ rec. TDs (40). The other two are Antonio Brown and Deandre Hopkins.
