Having gotten no respect from analysts throughout the offseason, you wouldn’t expect the New York Giants to open the 2019 NFL season with oddsmakers giving them much of a chance on the road this Sunday against the defending champion Dallas Cowboys.
They aren’t.
The Giants, per Odds Shark, are opening as 7.5-point underdogs. That, of course, is without the Cowboys even having signed star running back Ezekiel Elliott as of yet.
The only bigger opening spread listed on the SB Nation Odds Shark page is the Philadelphia Eagles being 8.5-point favorites over the Washington Redskins.
It certainly would be nice for the Giants to get off to a good start this season. Can they go into the Jerry Dome and upset the Cowboys?
A victory might take some of the heat off Eli Manning for a while. A loss, and you know the calls for Daniel Jones will begin quickly.
