The pass catchers for the New York Giants just can’t seem to catch a break. Reports from Thursday’s practice were that veteran wide receiver Bennie Fowler joined the long list of injured receivers, missing practice with a hamstring tweak.
Through two games Fowler is second on the team and first among Giants wide receivers with 10 receptions.
Cody Latimer has not practiced this week due to a concussion suffered Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Sterling Shepard, sidelined last week with a concussion suffered Week 1 vs. the Dallas Cowboys, practiced on Wednesday while wearing a yellow non-contact jersey. He is awaiting final concussion protocol clearance to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) was a limited practice participant on Wednesday. He missed most of training camp and the preseason and has yet to make his regular-season NFL debut.
Golden Tate, of course, is still serving his four-game PED suspension.
The Giants have two wide receivers on their practice squad, David Sills V and Reggie White Jr. It would seem likely that one could be added to the 53-man roster prior to Sunday.
