Did New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur throw a little shade at Buffalo Bills second-year quarterback Josh Allen on Wednesday? Here is what Shurmur said when asked what the organization thought of Allen as they studied for the 2018 NFL Draft:
“We thought he was a big, strong thrower. A guy that had a chance to be a starter in the NFL,” Shurmur said.
Is that shade? Is that a compliment? Is it nothing at all?
The Giants, of course, had a chance to draft Allen in 2018. They chose Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall pick. Allen went to the Bills No. 7 overall, where he started 11 games a season ago.
Allen didn’t take the bait and get into any sort of back-ado-forth with the Giants coach:
“It doesn’t bother me. I wasn’t trying to make everybody like me or fall in love with me,” he said. “Luckily the Bills had different thoughts and different plans with me. And luckily I ended up here.”
The Giants, of course, drafted Daniel Jones No. 6 overall this past offseason.
