Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Daniel Jones was pretty good last night

In case you hadn’t heard, you can read about it in these posts:

Shurmur “glad” for pass interference challenge

An overturn of a play by Corey Ballentine that was originally not called pass interference cost his team 33 yards, but Giants coach Pat Shurmur was “glad” to see Jets coach Adam Gase take advantage of the NFL’s new pass interference challenge rule.

Shurmur indicated it’s the type of play the Giants themselves would challenge.

“Well, to the naked eye and at game speed, I thought it was a terrific play. When you slow it down, you see that he grabbed his wrist. That’s a great example of how a play is going to get changed,” he said. “I am sort of glad that (Jets Head Coach) Adam (Gase) challenged it. It was good on his part. As soon as it was challenged, and had it been flipped we would have done the same thing, because as soon as it was challenged, my guys upstairs said, ‘we’re going to lose this.’ “

Jake Carlock a “team favorite”

Undrafted free agent edge Jake Carlock had a night to remember with a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown and a sack.

“That was awesome, wasn’t it?,” Shurmur said of Carlock’s Pick 6. “He’s a team favorite because he’s so tough. When we had all of those injuries, those little nagging injuries at the first part of training camp, he took a ton of reps — more than the law allows. He’s tough, tough as nails. The sideline exploded when he scored. It was really a great feeling. He’s a fan favorite on our team.”

Carlock said post-game that his touchdown “hasn’t hit me yet.”

“Maybe I’ll watch it on my phone later and get some goosebumps.”

What was his take on how the play, with ex-Giant Davis Webb at quarterback for the Jets, unfolded?

“Honestly, I just couldn’t really get around the tackle at first, so when I saw, I believe it was Webb,” Carlock said. “He was looking around. I just put my hands up. When I saw the ball I got my hand on it and then I tracked it into my hands and then I thought someone was behind me, so I took off as fast as I could down the sidelines.”
