Injuries hit the New York Giants hard in Thursday’s preseason finale, and likely impacted the makeup of the team’s 53-man roster.
Tight end Scott Simonson was carted off after injuring his left ankle on a diving 27-yard touchdown catch. He reportedly left the stadium in a walking boot and on crutches. Simonson was competing with C.J. Conrad and Garrett Dickerson for a backup tight end spot. Dickerson missed the game with a quad injury.
Wide receivers Brittan Golden and T.J. Jones suffered injuries. Golden left in the first half with a calf injury. Jones was carted off after injuring an ankle. Those injuries might have opened a roster spot for Alonzo Russell.
Linebackers Keion Adams (knee) and Nate Stupar (concussion), and cornerback Ronald Zamort (ankle) also left the game.
NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to make final roster decisions. The severity of the injuries suffered by Simonson and Jones could shape the initial 53-man roster.
