Giants trail 29-10 at the half: Sloppy first half for both teams

The New York Giants enter the second half of their annual preseason game trailing the New England Patriots 26-10 after a sloppy first half. Both teams rested most of their starters and their second teams traded turnovers and penalties.

Both rookie quarterbacks, Daniel Jones and Jarrett Stidham, got off to good starts. They were, perhaps, aided by the fact that they were throwing to starting caliber receivers in Golden Tate, Josh Gordon and Demaryius Thomas. But despite that both quarterbacks played well, throwing with good timing, velocity, and accuracy.

Jones had one particularly nice pass to Golden Tate for 23 yards, hitting him in the hands down the sideline. Unfortunately, neither rookie quarterback had anything to show for their efforts. Daniel Jones’ drive stalled on a failed attempt at a fourth down conversion, while Stidham was threw an interception and Thomas fumbled an exchange.

Jones only got one drive, but Alex Tanney picked up the spare, throwing a touchdown pass to Alonzo Russell after Sean Chandler intercepted Stidham.
