Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Solid camp for Kyle Lauletta
Kyle Lauletta has, of course, flown under the radar this training camp with the Giants having selected Daniel Jones No. 6 overall. Coach Pat Shurmur has noticed, though, as Lauletta has gone 15-of-22 (68.2 percent) for 2016 yards, two touchdown and a 128.2 passer rating.
“I think he’s had a really good camp. Much better than a year ago. I think he’s improving. I like the way he has competed,” Shurmur said. “There’s been a lot of conversation about the guy we picked this year (Daniel Jones). There are many ways guys could go with that, but he’s come out every day, competed and gotten better. It’s a credit to him.”
How many quarterbacks?
Shurmur isn’t about to be pinned down on that question.
“We’ll have to see how we do that. The rest of the roster is dependent on that as well. I’ve said it all along, I’d keep four (quarterbacks). I’d keep five if the roster would allow for it, because I think quarterback development in our league is primary. You can only develop by playing and practicing,” Shurmur said. “I’m fond of having lots of quarterbacks around. That’s just my feeling. But we’ll just have to see how it plays out when we get to the final 53 (man roster).”
