Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Sam Beal in roster jeopardy?

Could injured reserve be in Sam Beal’s future for a second straight season? After spending his rookie season on IR with a shoulder injury, Beal has not practiced since late July due to hamstring and groin issues.

Time is growing short for Beal, a cornerback selected in the 2018 Supplemental Draft, to get on the field and show the Giants he should be part of their 53-man roster.

“We’re just going to have to see where he is physically. We drafted him for a reason. We would like to see him be on our team. We’ll just see where he’s at, and then we’ll make a decision at the 53,” said head coach Pat Shurmur. “He’s getting healthier by the day. It’s just unfortunate that we haven’t been able to see him do much. But unfortunately, that’s the way it is sometimes.”

I couldn’t help but think on Tuesday about Shurmur’s “Finito” remark last season when asked about Odell Beckham and his interview with ESPN. That’s because he similarly didn’t want to talk about remarks made about the Giants by Beckham and Baker Mayfield that became public on Tuesday.

“Quite frankly, on our list of issues of the day, it really doesn’t matter what Odell or Baker said. There are many other things that we should probably be discussing,” Shurmur said.
