The New York Giants first home game of the 2019 season will be against the Buffalo Bills. That Week 2 encounter is interesting for a number of reasons, but largely because the Bills are going through a building process similar to the one being undertaken with the Giants.
To help us learn more about the Bills, Buffalo Rumblings contributor Anthony Marino recently joined the ‘Valentine’s Views’ podcast.
Among the topics we discussed:
- The vast difference in experience between attending a game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. vs. attending a game at New Era Field in Orchard Park. I have covered games in both places, and the experiences are completely dissimilar. In New Jersey, MetLife is in a sports complex that is a concrete jungle with little personality. New Era Field is an ancient stadium in a Buffalo suburb where games are like neighborhood events with weekend-long RV parking, cars parking at the local community college, at businesses, pretty much anywhere someone will allow. Games are true events.
- Comparing and contrasting the situations Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Giants rookie Daniel Jones are in.
- Buffalo’s top two draft picks, defensive tackle Ed Oliver and offensive tackle Cody Ford. Both are players many thought the Giants would be interested in, Ford in particular.
- Giants wide receiver/kick returner Corey Coleman, who was traded to the Bills last year by the Cleveland Browns but was cut before ever playing in a game for Buffalo.
