Lorenzen’s weight was a curiosity, and often a source of jokes and Internet fun during his playing career. Lorenzen played in four games with the Giants in 2006 and 2007. He was listed at 285 pounds at the time.
After he ballooned to nearly 600 pounds, though, his size was no longer funny. He began The Jared Lorenzen Project, a public effort to share his fight to get healthy and to help others do the same.
No jokes and no videos of a massive Lorenzen playing quarterback in low-level professional indoor leagues today. Keep Lorenzen in your thoughts and, if you are inclined, your prayers.
