I think divisional strength (or lack thereof) is a major factor here. While the Eagles will almost certainly be better — or at least more complete — than they were in 2018, the rest of the landscape is puzzling at best. Washington could start a rookie quarterback. Dallas may take a step back. After another offseason spent loading up on offensive line help, the Giants could theoretically control the line against almost all of their opponents. Saquon Barkley is primed for a phenomenal season, leading to the possibility of a higher-end, quarterback agnostic offense with Eli Manning and Daniel Jones behind center. While this isn’t a Super Bowl winning formula, it’s a formula that could help the Giants navigate the 27th-most difficult schedule in the NFL.

Yes, they could. Remember that Kentucky tight ends coach Vince Marrow told Big Blue View a few weeks ago that Conrad compares to Jason Witten. Also, I have already gone on record predicting that Conrad makes the 53-man roster.

The verdict: There could be more dynamism than usual, if Carter’s immense physical ability kicks in and Golden finally sheds the knee surgery issues that slowed him for nearly two seasons. Those are big “ifs.” Finding a quality starter inside alongside Ogletree is likely to be a problematic situation, as Goodson has yet to live up to the promise he showed in his fairly awesome 2017 NFL starting debut in Dallas. That was quite a long time ago. Vernon was by far the most accomplished edge player on the team and he will be doing his thing in Cleveland. Counting on Carter and Golden to come up big and provide something close to 20 sacks is quite a gamble.
Linebacker, of course, is always a concern.

Pro Football Focus, in a piece posted on ESPN+, has the Giants ranked 27th. PFF also lists the Giants with zero players graded as “elite.”
