Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Why NFL rival believes Giants are 'on the upswing’ - nj.com
“What the Giants have right now is stability,” the rival said in Street and Smith’s annual NFL preview. “And a lot of other teams don’t have that.” ...
“Dave Gettleman has seen it all over his 30-something years,” the rival wrote. “The one thing I know about Dave: He works really hard -- always very conscientious, thorough. Pat Shurmur is a blueblood football guy. To me, that’s important. You see the good, the bad and the ugly over all those years of coaching in the NFL. So, now you have to try to eliminate the bad stuff and go to town.”
Here is a little more:
“Are they better than a year ago?” the rival wrote. “They’ve got to be a team on the rise. They’ve got to get right tackle squared away. You bring in Kevin Zeitler, which helps, Will Hernandez had a good rookie year. Nate Solder was great in New England, but Tom Brady got the ball out so fast. Maybe the Giants need to speed things up a little bit and Eli Manning has got to get the ball out quicker.
“You got Saquon Barkley there. There’s been a lot of positive things there. I would say the Giants have taken a step forward. They’ve got to get another good draft next year and another good draft after that, then I think you’re on the upswing.”
Valentine’s View: “A lot of positive things there.” “On the upswing.”
Positive words about the work done over two offseasons by Gettleman. Who’da thunk it? No one should claim that the Giants are “fixed,” or that they will put a Super Bowl caliber team on the field in 2019. I continually remind that it took nearly a decade of poor personnel decisions to get the Giants into the mess Gettleman inherited. It’s going to take a while to get this right.

This is a wonderful example of people helping people. I wish there was more of this, and less of silly, divisive, unproductive arguing that has become too commonplace.
Giants receiver with fewest drops over last 2 seasons shares his 2 secrets | ‘React like a dog in the park’ - nj.com
The guy with the fewest drops? That would be Rhett Ellison. His key? He tells Ryan Dunleavy that he looks at passes thrown his way as a reward for the other things he does, and doesn’t stress about them.
