Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Jones not paying attention to critics
Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones said on Tuesday that he isn’t focused on the criticism of the team’s decision to select him No. 6 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
“I certainly don’t pay a whole lot of attention to it, but you’re aware of it. I’m focused on what we’re doing here and focused on trying to practice as well as I could these past six weeks and show some progress,” he said.
“At the end of the day I’m grateful to be part of this franchise, get this opportunity.”
Jones downplayed coach Pat Shurmur’s comment that the best player would be the quarterback and added “I don’t know” when asked if he would be ready to play Week 1.
“I think everyone on our team is trying to prove they can play and everyone wants to play,” Jones said. “When coach said that I think that’s what any coach does at any level in any sport.”
