NFL: New York Giants at Carolina Panthers Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Daniel Jones has made “considerable” progess

Coach Pat Shurmur has said repeatedly throughout the spring that he wants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones to work toward being ready to play Week 1 of the regular season, though there is no expectation that he will actually do that.

So, as a good spring comes to a close for the sixth overall pick, does he feel ready to win NFL football games? Jones was asked that on Tuesday, and non-answer answer would have made Eli Manning proud.

“I think all of our guys, when we go out to practice, we want to get ready to play. Everyone on the team’s goal is to be ready to play. If they are asked to play, to be ready to play,” Jones said. “You know, I have a lot to learn. Coming in here, it has been a good offseason so far. I just have to keep taking the steps I am taking. The next step is training camp.”

Jones said his focus is not on playing time. Rather, it is on “just improving and being better than the day before.”

“I think I made a considerable amount of progress since I have gotten here. I should have. That is the way it is supposed to go,” Jones said. “I still have a considerable amount to do but I am making progress every day and where I am is certainly better than where I started.”
