The newest official member of the Giants' roster deserves the good news after the tragedy being shot and losing a close friend and teammate on the night he was drafted. Because of his injury, Ballentine wasn’t able to take the field at the Giants’ rookie mini-camp, but he has been at the Giants facilities as the team begins its off-season program.
Having played for Washburn, Ballentine is something of a mystery to most Giants' fans. He has a rare blend of size and athleticism which presents intriguing possibilities for future development. Likewise, he could be a candidate to transition to safety and has a similar athletic profile to former Giant Bennett Jackson.
Whatever path his career takes, this is the start and a good day for a young man who deserves one.
