Kick and punt returner Quadree Henderson is being released by the New York Giants, who seem intent on going with Corey Coleman to return kickoffs and newly-acquired Jabrill Peppers to return punts.
Henderson stabilized the Giants’ revolving door kick return situation when he was signed from the practice squad last season. In five games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, Henderson averaged 7.6 yards on nine punt returns and 22.4 yards on five kickoff returns.
Peppers has averaged 7.3 yards on punt returns and 22.0 yards on kickoff returns over two NFL seasons.
Coleman got his first NFL opportunity to return kickoffs last season and averaged 26.0 yards on 23 returns.
Wide receivers Cody Latimer and Jawill Davis, along with reserve cornerback Antonio Hamilton, are also return options.
