The New York Giants on Friday selected Oshane Ximines, an EDGE defender from Old Dominion, with the 95 overall selection in Round 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Giants obtained this pick when they traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns.
The Giants did not have a second round selection, having traded the 37th overall pick to the Seattle Seahawks.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network liked the pick:
He destroys tight ends, he loves a slap-swim move. The Giants got their pass rusher, just a little later than people expected.
The NFL.com scouting report on Ximines says he has a “fully furnished repertoire of rush tactics,” but “needs to prove himself as a run defender.”
Ximines will join Lorenzo Carter, Markus Golden and Kareem Martin on the edge for the Giants.
In Round 1 the Giants selected quarterback Daniel Jones No. 6, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence No. 17 and cornerback Deandre Baker No. 30.
The Giants are scheduled to have six selections Saturday on Day 3 of the draft.
