With the 143rd and 144th picks in the 2019 Big Blue Draft-A-Thon, the Big Blue View community selected Germaine Pratt (LB, NC State) and DaMarkus Lodge (WR, Ole Miss) for the New York Giants to start the fifth round.
Pratt has only been a linebacker for one year, converting from safety for his final year at NC State. He has plenty of experience in zone coverage from his days as a DB, but is still finding his way as a down-hill run defending linebacker. Pratt might start his career as a special teamer or sub-package player, but he could grow into a larger role as he learns the nuances of the linebacker position. At the very least he is likely an upgrade from Tae Davis.
With the very next pick, the Giants added an outside receiver in DaMarkus Lodge from Ole Miss. Lodge was as a deep threat almost exclusively and has good long speed, but his route running and lateral agility remain questions. He also flashes the ball skills to make highlight-reel catches, but also shows inconsistencies catching the ball and can drop some “gimmie” passes. Lodge does have plenty of skill at getting clean releases against tight coverage, and could help free up the short area of the field for the rest of the Giants’ offense, in addition to being a tough, physical blocker for his teammates.
The Giants have a third pick in the the fifth round, the 171st overall pick, or the first of three compensatory picks at the end of the round. To keep things moving along, I’ll only be listing the 10 picks before the Giants’ selection and the 10 best players available.

Note: It is possible that the poll will not appear on some platforms. If you can’t see it, state that in the subject line of your comment and make your vote in the body. Only vote once and only comments that state the poll wasn’t visible will be counted. For simplicity’s sake I will not be counting write-in votes. I don’t agree with all of TDN’s rankings either, but we’re going to keep this as organized as possible.
Draft wisely.
