The Giants are back on the clock after selecting Alabama OT Jonah Williams with the seventeenth overall pick

NCAA Football: Chick-fil-A Kickoff-Alabama vs Florida State Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The first round of the Big Blue View Draft-A-Thon is in the books, and the BBV community has selected Ed Oliver (DL, Houston) and Jonah Williams (OT, Alabama) with the sixth and seventeenth picks respectively.

Williams has played both left and right tackle for Alabama, starting every game of his career in college (44 total starts, 15 at right tackle, 29 at left tackle). He is smaller than teams tend to prefer for offensive tackle at 6-foot 4 12 inches and 302 pounds, with arms just 3/8 of an inch under the magical “34-inch” measurement. However, he is an absolute technician with good movement skills and functional strength. Williams would immeidately start as the Giants’ right tackle and could give them the freedom to move on from Nate Solder after the 2019 season if they so desire.
