Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Former NFL quarterback and Elite 11 head coach Trent Dilfer told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer that he sees similarities between Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins and Brady, a six-time Super Bowl champion. Dilfer previously worked with Haskins at his Elite 11 recruiting camp.
“I thought Dwayne should’ve waited, but he’s the most like Tom Brady of anyone we’ve had," Dilfer said. "He sees it like Tom, he works at it, he plays that way. He plays on time, with his intellectual process. I don’t want to compare anyone to Brady, but he’s Tom Brady-ish.”
The Giants are on Dan Graziano’s list. He writes:
With two first-round picks, the Giants are positioned to get just about anyone they want if they package both in a trade. Indications are that they’re not excited about doing that, though, and that they’re more likely to use the No. 17 pick (the one they got from Cleveland in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade) to address their long-term quarterback issue.
That would mean taking a defensive building block at No. 6, then potentially moving up from No. 17 if they want to get someone like Drew Lock, Daniel Jones or Dwayne Haskins, if he starts to tumble. There remains a chance the Giants could make a deal for Arizona’s Josh Rosenif he becomes available, but sources close to the situation say the Giants aren’t certain about Rosen at this point.
Mike Tanier comes up with a really interesting, and perhaps appropriate, way to view the Duke quarterback:
Daniel Jones is the chicken quesadilla of quarterback prospects.
If you order the chicken quesadilla when dining out, it typically means that you showed up for happy hour hungry and unsure about what you wanted. Few people ever actually crave a chicken quesadilla. For most of us, it’s a safe default selection on any appetizer menu: non-threatening, adequately satisfying and unlikely to gross you out, but not exactly the highlight of your evening.
That’s Jones, the former Duke quarterback who has been generating first-round buzz since late in the college season and is now being linked to several teams at the top of the draft board. Jones is the quarterback teams want when they don’t know what they want in a quarterback.
Elliot Harrison lists outside wide receiver, which is an outside the box choice.
