NFL: Pro Football Hall of Fame-Enshrinees’ Gold Jacket Dinner Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It is the week between the NFL scouting combine and the start of the new league year, which means the start of free agency. It should be an odd little lull in the NFL calendar and a chance for us all to catch our breath.

The New York Giants disagree.

We have been inundated with news regarding the Giants during and since the Combine and opportunities to process have been rather limited. But with 2019 Free Agency opening in less than a week, Dan and I had to process the news — much of which revolves around the Giants’ decision to move on from Landon Collins — in order to set the stage for the coming roster decisions.

We also decided to take this opportunity, with loads of new data points from the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine but with rosters not yet reshuffled by free agency, to have our own mock draft. This time we decided to make use of The Draft Network’s new mock draft machine (which is excellent, by the way), and rather than make our picks off-air, we ran a live mock draft on the air.

(The picks are provided below, but if you want the context and explanations, you’ll have to listen. The mock, incidentally, was done prior to the announcement of the Olivier Vernon-Kevin Zeitler trade.)

On this podcast

  • The Giants’ decision to move on from Landon Collins
