Good morning from Indianapolis, New York Giants fans!

Yours truly is all settled in for a couple of days work here at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. On tap Wednesday, coach Pat Shurmur will speak to the media at 10 a.m. and general manager Dave Gettleman will step to the podium at 11:45 a.m.

We will bring you reports from both.

Giants hire new defensive backs coach

Before heading to Indianapolis, Shurmur filled a recently-created vacancy on his coaching staff by reportedly hiring Everett Withers as defensive backs coach. Withers replaces Lou Anarumo, who accepted a job as defensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Withers has been an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans, but has not worked in the NFL since 2006.

He was head coach at Texas State the past three seasons, but the team went just 7-28. Withers had accepted a job as defensive coordinator at FIU before taking the job with the Giants.

No consensus reached on changing NFL replay

"Calls are just missed," Giants owner John] Mara said. "Officials are just human. They're going to miss calls from time to time. ... To think that we're going to be a system where calls are always going to be corrected from New York or from upstairs, I just don't think we're there or even close to being there."
