Things Getty should consider.

It all depends on how the first few picks go and who calls Getty on the phone. What offers he gets if any. My hope with the 6th pick he takes the BPA and from what I have seen so far it's an edge rusher. My idea of an edge rusher and Bettcher's might be different though, he might have a broader interpretation including 4-3 DEs, well certain ones. In my opinion the two biggest needs are in fact pass rushers and offensive lineman, there's a lot of good ones in this draft, players who should be able to step in right away and start, even make an impact. Of course there are no Barkley's in this draft or OBJs for that matter.

We have 11 picks in this draft the problem is that they are all later picks and we lack a third rounder. We all talk about moving back into the third using some of those late picks. I really don't see that happening, why would a team want to? I cannot answer that and so realistically I doubt it will happen, I wouldn't do it. So how do we add a third or even an extra second round pick? Since this in fact a deep draft and we desperately need talent at every position I have no problem somehow finding a way to get back some higher picks that will bring in some talent, impact players not just those solid lunch pail guys we also need.

The biggest asset we have is our #6 pick. If as I mentioned someone is seeking to move up for a QB we would have to consider the offer. Now that Denver is out of the picture with their trade for Flacco we must not get greedy and expect a King's ransom. Just get some picks, move back in round one and get some higher picks. We can then use some of those later picks to move around and get the players we target. We all have "Our" guys so I am sure getty does even more so. Remember he actually talked to them and met them, got to know them.

There's 4 guys teams could move up for QB wise, Murray, Haskins, Jones and Lock. Why would Getty draft one of them at #6 if he did not take better QB talent last year or move back from 2 to get one and add picks. No I just do not think Getty will take a Qb and he might give up the pick for a nice haul of higher picks. If a few QBs go in the top 10 Getty still has a bunch of great players to choose from, even if they don't there will be day one starters with probowl potential. Some of them are right tackles.

Add higher picks by trading the #6. Use some of the mid round picks to move up within those rounds and get players we want. Not sit and wait for a guy we liked but would rather have had a specific player. Belichick does that, he moves all around trying to position himself to pick players he specifically likes.
