Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Daniel Jones supports Pat Shurmur
The common theory is that the person with the best chance of saving Pat Shurmur’s job as head coach is Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. On Monday, Jones said he doesn’t feel the team is playing for Shurmur’s job.
“We all take a lot of responsibility in the way things have gone and how we’ve played. You certainly can’t look to one person or one group or anyone. We all have a lot to do with it. I don’t feel that way,” Shurmur said. “I have a lot of confidence and appreciation for Coach (Pat Shurmur). We’re playing to win each game, and that’s the way we’ve approached the season. We’re going to compete as hard as we can.”
Dexter Lawrence: Defense sticking together
During Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers we saw veteran safety Antoine Bethea speak to rookie DeAndre Baker after a long completion. Rookie Dexter Lawrence said Monday there is no tension between veteran and inexperienced teammates.
“I can say there is not hostility around. Everybody is very humble and willing to learn from anybody in the room,” Lawrence said. “In my room, I coach or get on some of the older guys in my room and I’m pretty sure in the DB room the same thing is going to happen, even in the linebacker room too. It’s all coming from a genuine place, we know we are all trying to help each other in the long run, feed our families and stuff.”
