After the New York Giants dropped their fifth-straight game with a 37-18 loss to the division rival Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football and fell to 2-7 on the season, the New York Jets are probably one of very few teams in the league that the Giants could be predicted to beat.
The Giants, per Yahoo! Sports, are 2-point favorites over the 1-7 Jets in this Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium.
Last week, the Giants were predicted to be a 7.5-point underdog to the Cowboys and lost by nine. This week’s matchup against the last-place AFC East Jets is one of the tightest spreads for the Giants in recent weeks.
The closest spread heading into Week 10 is the matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Oakland Raiders, who are one-point underdogs heading into the game. Other tight spreads include the Detroit Lions at the Chicago Bears (+2.5), Los Angeles Rams at the Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) and the Minnesota Vikings at the Cowboys (-3). The largest spread heading into week 10 is the Atlanta Falcons predicted to be 13-point underdogs to the New Orleans Saints.
The Jets are coming off of a 26-18 loss to the Miami Dolphins - a team that was winless heading into Week 9. The Jets are ranked last in the league in most offensive categories, including points scored (12), total yards (223.5), passing yards (157.2) and their 66.2 rushing yards per game are ranked 30th in the league. The Giants, meanwhile, are ranked 24th in the league in points scored with 19.6, 24th in total yards with 326.8, 18th in the league in passing yards with 224.7 and 17th in rushing yards with 102.1.
Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has 110 completions in 174 attempts for 1,077 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions. Running back Le’Veon Bell has 125 rushing attempts for 415 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jamison Crowder leads the team with 43 receptions for 405 yards and one touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, Darryl Roberts has 47 tackles, including 42 solo.
The Giants are looking to snap a five-game losing streak heading into the matchup.
