Giants roster moves: CB Sam Beal activated, S Sean Chandler waived

As head coach Pat Shurmur indicated the team would, the New York Giants have activated cornerback Sam Beal from IR. They waived safety Sean Chandler to make room on the 53-man roster.

Beal, a third-round pick in the 2018 Supplemental Draft, has spent his entire Giants career on injured reserve. Last season, Beal had a shoulder injury. This year, he suffered a hamstring injury in training camp.

He has never played in a regular or preseason game for the Giants. He will make his NFL debut Sunday against the New York Jets.

Chandler made the roster last season as an undrafted free agent out of Temple. He appeared in 16 games, making 8 tackles. This season, Chandler has played in 9 ghames with 4 tackles.

The Giants can still bring one more player back off injured reserve. Wide receiver Russell Shepard and edge defender Kareem Martin are among the candidates.
