No Offensive Identity, No Rhyme or Reason

In order to succeed, every offense needs 2-3 plays that they can execute flawlessly and repeatedly against base fronts. These plays, which are a right group and related, need to force the defense to make adjustments to stop them. For example, the Chiefs base play is a mid-zone RPO with Kelce and Hill running various combinations (stick, slant/flat, etc.) attacking the inside LB. The rest of the offense is designed to take advantage of the defensive adjustments to stop this play.

The Rams and 49ers run mid-zones paired with fly sweeps, play action digs and Bang-8s behind the LBs. The Rams do it out of 11 personnel, the 49ers out of 21.. Until the defense stops the run, those teams are going to jam.it down your throat.

Historically, the best offenses have this identity. The great 49er teams threw slants to Rice and Taylor. The Redskins gave a heavy dose of John Riggins. The Cowboys ran sprint draw to Emmet Smith, with play action digs and Bang-8s to Irvin.

The Patriots identity changes yearly, and the reason they are struggling this year is that they don't have a play to hang their hat on. They are trying to run the ball, but they don't have a counter when the defense stacks the box. The receiving talent isn't there.

Can someone please explain what the Giants offensive identity is? What it SHOULD be is similar to KC. Mid-zone RPOs to Barkley, with Engram and Tate/Shepard attacking LBs. Very QB friendly, and it's what DJ does well. All I see is a mishmash of plays with no cohesive structure.
