NFL football is a serious business. We try to do everything we can here at Big Blue View cover all the serious news about the New York Giants and give you the best analysis and opinion we possibly can.
Once in a while, though, you have to have a little fun. Whenever possible this season we’re trying to do that with an off-beat “Friday Five” questions with a Giants player. This week, outside linebacker Tuzar Skipper played along.
Any good Rich Seubert stories?
To set this up, remember that Seubert worked with Skipper at TEST Football Academy during the pre-draft process.
“Appropriate ones, no,” Skipper said laughing. “If there’s anything I can say about him he just told me to keep working, just work, work, work, it’s [the NFL] a good living and your hard work is definitely going to pay off. How this league is operated is they’re going to pay the ones who work the hardest.
“If you want to stick around for a long time, be a household name just work hard. Talent is going to get you there, but hard work is going to keep you there.”
Did you expect to stay in Pittsburgh on the practice squad?
The Giants claimed Skipper off waivers from the Steelers.
“I did. I thought I was going to stay there. It came down to like the last five minutes before the deadline. Usually if you didn’t hear anything from the other 31 teams by then it should be that you’re signing back with your previous team. In this case it wasn’t, it was a whole turnover of fortunate events.”
Are you enjoying the opportunity in New York?
“Absolutely. As long as I’m in the NFL I don’t care what team it could be. It could be the best team or it could be the worst team. At the end of the day it’s hard to get here. A lot of people try and don’t succeed. As long as I’m here I don’t care what team I play for. I’m happy to be in the NFL.”
Now we turn to the real “fun” questions.
Best hair in the room?
“Josiah. We go to Josiah Tauaefa.”
Full disclosure: Practice squad linebacker Jake Carlock was a close second. He was actually Skipper’s first choice until realizing he had forgotten Tauaefa (who, incidentally, was paying close attention to this answer from about three lockers away).
The Giants player who makes you laugh the most?
“There’s a lot of ‘em, believe it or not. One that makes me laugh every day in my meeting room (outside linebackers) is Lorenzo Carter or X-Man (Oshane Ximines). He (Ximines) makes me laugh. He just says some crazy things.”
NOTE: Skipper apparently has a future in politics. He lockers next to Ximines, with Carlock and Tauaefa also just a couple of lockers away. He managed to work all of them, who were within earshot of our chat, into his answers.
