Giants’ injury report, 10/23: Sterling Shepard remains in concussion protocol

Wide receiver still not cleared

NFL: New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Cornerback Corey Ballentine (concussion) did not practice for the New York Giants on Wednesday, and could miss a second straight game.

Running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) was a limited participant, with coach Pat Shurmur telling reporters Barkley has “game soreness” from his return to the lineup last Sunday and he expects him to play against the Detroit Lions.

Wide receiver Sterling Shepard (concussion) continues to be a limited practice participant. He remains in the protocol as he deals with his second concussion of the season. Shepard has missed the last two games and has been held out of three overall this season.

The 2-5 Giants have lost three straight as they prepare to face the 2-3-1 Detroit Lions on Sunday. Detroit has also lost three straight after a promising start.
