Giants injury report, 10/2: Saquon Barkley runs, cuts as he progresses from high ankle sprain

Shurmur won’t rule him out for Sunday, although that seems unrealistic

New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley did some stretching, jogging and cutting on Wednesday as he continues to progress from the high ankle sprain he suffered Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Despite that little bit of work on the side and with trainers, Barkley was officially listed as “Did Not Practice” on Wednesday’s injury report.

Here are a couple of videos of Barkley today at practice.

Giants coach Pat Shurmur said that Barkley is “progressing” and “felt good.” Shurmur, almost certainly playing mind games with the Minnesota Vikings, refused to rule Barkley out of Sunday’s game.

“Some people’s doctors had him eight weeks,” Shurmer said. “Not my doctors.

“We’ll just see. We’ll see how fast he comes back.”

Shurmur said most of the other players on the list were just “game soreness stuff” typical of being in the middle of a season.
