Let’s talk about Kyler Murray.
The Heisman Trophy winning Oklahoma quarterback, already signed as an outfielder by the Oakland A’s, is now expected to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Previously thought to have chosen a baseball career, the San Francisco Chronicle says Murray is now “leaning toward football.”
That could make the upcoming draft a whole lot more interesting. It could also impact the Giants, whether or not they would consider selecting Murray.
Listed at 5-foot 10, 195 pounds, Murray is anything but a traditional NFL quarterback prospect. In a changing league, though, there is a ton of intrigue regarding Murray.
An NFL general manager speaking Saturday about Heisman-Trophy winner Kyler Murray: “I really believe he’s a first-round pick, a late first, I really do. And the fact that Baker (Mayfield) is having a great year will help Murray, too....He’s going to be a first-round pick.”

What makes that even more interesting is what Kliff Kingsbury, new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, said about Murray a few months ago.

As it turns out, the team that now employs Kingsbury has the first pick in the draft. Which led to speculation about a new scenario involving the Giants:

That is Josh Rosen, of course, the quarterback the Cardinals selected with the 10th overall pick in last year’s draft.
Then again, Kingsbury also said that it’s “hard to find a guy that throws it better” than Rosen.
At this point, of course, all of that is just idle chatter. Still, it certainly adds a thought-provoking potential wrinkle for the Giants.
