EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants will be 3-point underdogs Sunday when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife Stadium in their 2018 season-opening game.
The game will mark the NFL debut of Giants running back Saquon Barkley, the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. It will also mark the return to action of Odell Beckham Jr., who will play for the first time since fracturing his ankle in Week 5 of the 2017 season. Beckham needs 7 receptions over his first 3 games to surpass Lional Taylor for most receptions by a player in his first 50 NFL games. Beckham has 313, Taylor’s record is 319.
When quarterback Eli Manning takes the field he will set the franchise record for most games played as a Giant. Sunday will mark Manning’s 217th game. He and Michael Strahan are tied at 216.
The Giants will be without outside linebacker Olivier Vernon (ankle).
