Cornerback Eli Apple (groin) and linebacker Olivier Vernon (ankle) missed another New York Giants practice on Thursday, putting their status for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans in doubt.
Vernon has yet to play this season due to an injury he suffered midway through the preseason. Apple left Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with his injury.
Without Vernon’s presence in the front seven the Giants have just one sack and have had little success pressuring opposing passers. Without Apple, B.W. Webb is likely to move outside and Donte Deayon would be the likely slot corner.
Punt returner Kaelin Clay (ankle) was a full practice participant. Tight end Evan Engram (ankle) and linebacker Connor Barwin (knee) were limited participants.
