What Should We Have Expected?

We wanted a rebuilt offensive line... and we got it. Chemistry is so important with o-line play, and building chemistry takes time. The line is rebuilt with a free agent signee, a rookie, a guard converted to center (now hurt), a left guard moved to right guard, and a failed left tackle moved to right tackle. Of course they're going to struggle early. The lack of communication this early is not shocking. We should have expected this. While it's frustrating to watch... it's still too early to condemn this as a failure. Andrew Norwell, a first team all pro, and our #1 target to rebuild the line this offseason, made some uncharacteristic mistakes last week against us. Even the best take time to build chemistry with a new team.

It's not time to jump ship yet... No one is exactly running away with this division. The Eagles are already pretty banged up, and the Redskins came back down to earth big time yesterday.

As for the defense... The Collins-Dak storyline was one of the most irritating to watch unfold. Cowboys came right out of the gate firing back at Collins' comments with their aggressive downfield play calling. It worked just enough to put the Giants in an early hole that they couldn't climb out of. Always a bad idea. Just let the play do the talking. Our defensive leader got outclassed by their offensive leader, plain and simple. I hope he learns from that.
